A Habitat Street Completed in Atwater

On June 8, 2014 Habitat for Humanity of Portage County held a dedication for two families who moved into new homes in Southern Portage county. The organization held an intimate, but community welcome event and hosted close to 40 people in one of the new homes. These homes are the two last homes built on a “Habitat Street” in the Atwater community.This project found homes for countless families and completed an entire road of houses and several surrounding homes in the same community. It has become a critical model for future Habitat communities. Habitat homes are 0% interest loans and provide safe and affordable housing for families in need. Dana Pavlik, one of the homeowners served at the most recent dedication, said “I was rent poor. Now I am able to support my children comfortably in the future.”
